Scrap Layouts

This Girl

This girl of mine, she cracks me up! Yesterday morning while she was waiting on us to be ready to leave to go to the zoo, she climbed up on the chair in "mommy's living room" with her computer and says "mommy, i need to check my email" She gets funnier and funnier by the minute. I don't want to leave her anymore. Not that I ever wanted to leave her but I want to be there for all those little funny saying and doings.
Man I wish I could hit that lottery! I guess you got to play though to hit it.
I ordered a pattern to make her & Kayla matching dresses to go with their American Girl dolls. Depending on how hard they are to make, I'm going to try and make them and sell them on Etsy. We'll see how that goes! But that's another project for me to work on. Like I need anymore, I don't know why I do it to myself as if I'm not busy enough but I do it anyway. That's whats been stopping me from getting Josie a kitten or a dog.
One: I don't think I could handle potty training a puppy right now. (taking off next week to hopefully potty train Josie)
Two: A kitten is cleaning a litter box and sweeping up hair.
So Mike suggested Saturday night that we get a fish tank. I didn't know he would consider that one but he really doesn't want a cat. And he knows I don't think I can deal with a puppy right now.
I told him a fish tank was fine with me but I want a big one. I don't want one I can only have two fish in. If I'm going to do it, then I want some fish you can actually see.
Course after taking her to the zoo yesterday a fish tank may not be a good idea. We took her in where you pet the sharks and that is probably where she spent the most time. We went back twice and the second time, I think if Daddy would have let her go, she would have climbed in with them.
Then she kept yelling at the Polar Bear and yelling at Daddy telling him there's a Polar Bear. When we left, she had to tell the Polar Bear, bye.

The next thing she did, we got to the Tiger exhibit and we couldn't find the kitty, so she says "Here kitty, kitty!" Evidently the Tiger knows what that means! ;-)

Then we walked past the drawings on the ground and I remembered that I had that photo last year. So here is a side by side comparison.

Crazy what a year does! She looks like such a big kid now.
While waiting to go to the dolphin show we took a break and sit down next to the duck pond. She climbed up on the concrete sat down, and says "Hi ducks, How you doing?!"
She wasn't too impressed with the dolphin show. However, while we were waiting on it to start she kept telling us that she wanted to swim with the dolphins and that Mommy could swim too. Maybe, one of these days we'll get to do that. I've always wanted to swim with the dolphins.
After the dolphin show we stopped and had lunch. All she wanted was french fries so that is what she had for lunch. I know it is so nutrishous but that's all she wanted. But we did get her a "dragon" cup. She won't let you call it anything else. It is a DRAGON!!!

We went to the Dessert exhibit and there was this Meerkat just hanging out! I thought he was pretty funny!
Next stop was the plains. And this was just one of the few times she would ride in her stroller. Mommy's back couldn't hardly take anymore.

All Josie wanted to see as soon as we got there was the giraffe's. So this was the area and we told her that. We first passed some zebra's and she wasn't too impressed with them.

Then some birds and finally the giraffes. There was actually 5 of them and two were babies, so that was kind of cool. We spent quite a while there watching them eat the tree branches.

She wasn't too impressed with much after that. Then all she wanted was to go eat ice cream. We did go look at a few more exhibits. One was the rhino's. She was okay with them until one got excited and started snorting as he was walking pretty fast. Later in the day as she was walking she stopped mid track and proceeded to tell us how the rhino blew with the bending over at the waist and blowing out of her nose.
She loves Snuffy on Sesame Street and she knows he's an elephant so I figured she would be excited to see elephants. Plus when we got to them they were playing in the water rolling around and stuff, but she still wanted her ice cream!

After the elephants we gave up and just went to find her ice cream. We ended up getting the ice cream right outside the splash pad. She told me she wanted to go play in the water so we went after we were done with the ice cream. I didn't think she would really play in it much. I thought at the most she would get her dress damp. I was wrong!!! We had to go buy her a new shirt to wear home cause her dress was soaked and hanging off of her. She loved that place! I'll know next year to put a suit on her or take a change of clothes.
Here's how she started out:

And here is how it ended up:

After this we went and bought her a shirt and then went back to the shark tank. I think all in all, she had a great time! We bought a stuffed giraffe at the gift store and it came home with us.
I'm ready for next year!!!

Carry on & Dance Class

Every morning that Josie is going somewhere for the day, whether it be Mama Carole's or Aunt Michelle's we always have to take something with us. But normally it's a doll or a book or a small toy. Not today!!! She had to take my old dog "Humphrey" that my Aunt Susie made me when I was little. She actually made all three of us one, so Riley has Aunt Michelle's. I had to take a photo of her in her car seat with him because if she lays on him in the floor he is as long as her from snout to tail. And it looked funny with him being so big in the car seat.
And we started dance classes last night at Kick's. She was actually going to start them last Thursday but Mommy couldn't find the place. So I had Daddy take us by there after the skating rink last Saturday. I think she had a good time. I wasn't aware that the parents didn't go in the room with them so I didnt' know how that would go over. But she went in the room with her teacher Elizabeth and the other little girl, Ashley. Didn't cry once. I was proud of her. She watched everything they did but didn't want to do it herself. I hope she loosens up and enjoys it cause I would really like to put her in this fall and be with a bunch of little kids.

Josie's 2 Year Photo & the dress Mommy made

Check out the dress that Mommy made for Josie with Granny Glodyne's assistance.
I was wanting this dress from Matilda Jane but there was no way I could afford it or pay over $70 for it. Mike would have killed me. So I found the pattern for sale on Etsy and Granny & I headed to Jo-Ann's to find the material. Mike then kept Josie for me on a Saturday morning and I headed down to Granny's. She helped me read the pattern and watched me sew. The only thing she did for me on this dress was the button holes and that was because we couldn't get the machine to work. I was pretty proud of it and Josie calls it her pretty dress.
Course no photos in our yard with Josie would be complete with out "Bubby" Levi. He had to get in on the action too! And actually they are pretty cute, even if Ernie says we look like a hilljack from Kentucky with our dog and rocking chair in the yard.

Riley's Birthday Party @ Western Skateland

Michelle booked Riley's 7th birthday party at Western Skateland and it was great!!!! I was so excited all week. I hadn't been skating since I was in middle school. I use to go all the time and stay for hours. Dad would drop us off and come pick us up later in the night. It was a blast!!!
Didn't know if I would be able to still skate but I was bound to try. I did pretty good. By the time it was over I was able to cross my feet in the corners again. However, I was unable to stop without running into the wall. I did try! And I DID fall flat on my rear end and a week later as I write this my tailbone still hurts if I sit on it. I think I might have broke it. Thank God, I did it right at the end of skating.
We got Josie in skates and she had a good time. She wasn't afraid of it at all and everytime she fell, she would just get right back up and go again. Until one time she fell and got herself all twisted, then she was done with it.
Cousin Carrie, went out on the floor with me to help Josie "skate". It was hard keeping her little body up on real skates (little skates were all gone). I felt like we were pulling her arms out of her socket but she wanted to keep going.
Cousin Cindy did another awesome job on birthday cake. She made Riley a "camo" cake. That was his theme for his party.

I think everyone had fun and some of the "Mom's" are talking about taking the kids back. This Big "Kid" wants to go too!!!

Josie's actual Birthday

I met Mom, Riley & Kayla at Wonderlab for Josie's birthday party. We left around lunchtime and met Papa Doug at Bobby's 2. The kids said that was the best food ever. :-) Then we went back to Wonderlab until the girls had had enough. Once again, sorry Riley!!!
But they had a really good time, I am actually thinking of getting a year pass for us. It was really neat and so close to home for us and a great way to occupy Josie's time.

FirstStop was the Bubble room

They had a 6 and under age area. That was really nice and Josie had a blast in there. Course the water tables are always the favorite.

Josie thought it funny to lock Mommy in the area and then walk away. She would laugh if I tried to come out and tell me "Mommy, stay!"

Kayla liked the blocks on the outside of the play area.

Riley liked it all and was going to quick for me to get many photos of him. But he spent the most time at the boards with the "nails" in them making impressions.
You had to move quick to get the photo before he was starting all over again.

The upstairs level also had the animals there. Josie was telling me what fish to take photos of.

And just some random photos from the day.

After we left Wonderlab, Josie & I went down to see Daddy for a minute. We then went home and took a nap. When she woke up she played with all of her new toys until Daddy got home. When he got home she got her presents from Daddy & Mommy and then we (meaning Mommy) sang Happy Birthday to her and blew out the candle again.
Daddy & Mommy got her a princess tent, more dolls for her dollhouse along with a living room set and a dog & puppy set with the house. Snow White DVD and a Pooh painting book.
She wanted to sleep in her tent and watch TV. So after her shower, we put jammies on, laid down in the tent with blankets & pillows and her "computer" and watched Snow White. I look forward to more nights like this.

All Josie wanted to do was pick the flowers off to eat them. Didn't want the cake or the icing, just the flowers.

Well that catches up on the happenings around here.

And Miss Josie, I want you to know how much joy you have brought to our lives in the last two years! I can't imagine life without you and am so thankful to God that he finally allowed us to be parents. I love you, Baby Girl!!!
